Welcome to the world of dinosaur cards!

The dinosaurs ruled the earth for more than 160 million years, an enormously long period of time, until their sudden disappearance some 65 million years ago.
JAM Systems is proud to reintroduce the dinosaurs, creatures wrapped in mystery, to the world in the form of the dinosaur card series with scientifically sound, beautiful, vivid illustrations and descriptions based on information revealed by the latest discoveries. We sincerely hope that the dinosaur cards will fascinate youngsters and stir their imagination regarding these mysterious creatures, whose origin, evolution and modes of life are replete with numerous hypotheses.
The illustrations have been contributed by Mineo Shiraishi, an internationally well-known figure in the field through his work for various overseas organisations such as the BBC in the UK etc.
Every endeavour has been made for the texts to be faithful to scientific documentation, however, we would appreciate your understanding that there may not always have been enough space to put every detail down on the cards. Certain topics intimately associated with prehistoric animals, such as the probable causes of their extinction, are also explained in the "Quad-set" cards.
We aim to add further cards to the series and would also like to expand the subject to other extinct prehistoric animals than dinosaurs - such as marine reptiles. We shall, of course, make every effort to keep our product up-to-date by swiftly incorporating new findings into the cards. We therefore welcome constructive advice from dinosaur enthusiasts and experts, and contributions from illustrators around the globe, as the world is just a fingertip away in this internet age in which we are living.
As the creators of the cards, we shall be thrilled if our product develops into something which will always excite and inspire the fans.

Card Contents

*Card Number: Each card is given a unique reference number.
*Illustration: Printed to the maximum size on the card, accompanied by a smaller illustration to show the whole body of the animal. The colouring owes a lot to the imagination, as the actual colours of the dinosaurs cannot possibly be deduced from fossils. We understand that certain features, such as whether the teeth were visible when the creature's mouth was closed, for instance, are still subject to debate, but we left them as they were on the cards nonetheless.
*Dinosaur Name: The scientific names, made up of two parts - the genus and the species - in Latin or Latinised forms of other languages are officially used, c.g. "TYRANNOSAURUS (genus) REX (species}" However, only the genus is used on the cards.
*Meaning of the name: Original meaning of the genus.
*Body Size: Estimated total body length (head to taill of a fully-grown adult animal. A scale is displayed with the smaller illustration from a lateral view. In the texts, the animals with less than 4m in length are regarded as small sized, while those between 4 - 6m and over 6m are referred to as medium and large respectively.
The body weight is not displayed on principle, as it is nothing but pure speculation.
*Time: The time during which the animal is thought to have lived.
*Place of Discovery: Name of the places (countries) where the fossils were discovered. *Taxonomy: In accordance with today's prevailing method, the cladistic taxonomy.
